Digital cameras take pictures in ¾ ratios such as the 6 x 4.4''. Prints that preserve this ratio allow for a complete print out of your image (see below).

Traditional print sizes have a ratio of 2/3 such as the very popular 6 x 4''. Such prints are thinner than the original image and must therefore crop photo files to fit them in.
